Today I (Krysta) have a guest post over at My Comic Relief on my experience growing up without reading comics and then eventually figuring out where to jump into the scary world of superheroes! (There are so many of them!) Check it out and, while you’re there, check out Michael’s awesome blog where he writes about all things Marvel (and sometimes Batman).
Thank you for the marvelous (okay…there was no intended pun there but I wrote it and kind of like it now so I’m sticking with it) piece! It was an interesting experience for me to read because, as someone who got into comics at three-years-old, there’s no way I can easily approach or *see* the genre through this lens myself.

I think it would have been easier for me if I’d started earlier. But, the good news is, it’s never too late to dive in!

Going back to school and some of my classes is what made me read graphic novels/comics, there were graphic novels/comics on the book lists, and the ones that I had to read for those classes I ended up enjoying. The last graphic novel/comic that I read was the third issue of Shades of Magic: The Steel Prince, and I can’t wait to read the rest of them.

That’s so exciting! As I said in my guest post, seeing graphic novels on book lists even five years ago would have been a bit surprising! Now it’s very common!
