Author Guest Post: Kelly Parra

Please welcome Kelly Parra, author of “Darkness Becomes Him” in the paranormal Prom Dates to Die For anthology released by Buzz Books on May 1!  (Book review coming soon.)

Hello Friends, thanks for letting me chat with you! I’m Kelly Parra, and I’d like to introduce myself as an eccentric reader and writer. I love contemporaries. I love action and suspense. I love romance. I love paranormals. I love unique and memorable characters. I love young adult and adult fiction. I love short and novel length fiction. You get the picture. I’m probably what an agent and editor doesn’t love in a writer because I don’t stick with one subgenre. *wince*

But I can say that my voice and style remain the same as I combine contemp, action, suspense, romance and unique characters in all of my stories. That’s me. That’s my brand. I’m still trying to sum it all up in a tagline. LOL.

As a writer, I have a ton of story ideas. The thing is not every story idea is going to help me to create a full-length novel. But I may still have the drive to create the story and I definitely want to have fun. And with short fiction I can do that.

“Darkness Becomes Him” is my short story in the PROM DATES TO DIE FOR anthology, and I can honestly admit I had lots of fun!

I enjoyed writing about supernatural teen hunters Jaz and Blake. I didn’t have to know their entire life story when I wrote “Darkness Becomes Him”. I could go with the moment and discover a few things about them along the way. Like how they are orphans who can detect all things magical. How Jaz is a girl who is tough and realistic and how Blake’s willing to risk himself to help others against evil. How they are best friends and one of them is starting to have feelings for the other… *gasp* Am I sharing too much for a ten page story?

Okay, well, here are some other clues associated with DBH: Dark, Angel, Case, Prom, Page-turning, Action.

All right, that’s all I’m saying…for now!
